Best Universities in the World
It probably comes as no surprise that the best universities in the world are ivy-league schools in both the United States, and United Kingdom. I've done quite a bit of research into this, and I've finally come up with what I believe to be true. Only the really smart, or super rich get into these colleges.
Here is a short list of what the best universities in the world are:
- Harvard University (United States) - The world famous Harvard University located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The oldest research university in the United States. It is annually ranked number 1 in most categories including Life Sciences, Natural
Science and Math, Clinical Medicine, Social Sciences, Business, and Medical Research.
- Yale University (United States) - Private university located in New Haven, Connecticut. Yale has produced 4 U.S. presidents, 18 supreme court justices, and many foreign heads of state.
- University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) - Located in Cambridge, England. Cambridge has produced 83 Nobel Laureates which is more then any other university in the world.
- University of Oxford (United Kingdom) - Located in Oxford, Oxfordshire, Great Britain. Many people consider it to be the best university in the UK, but it's very close with Cambridge. They have a friendly rivalry.
- California Institute of Technology (United States) - Located in Pasadena, California. Caltech is the most scrupulous university when it comes to admissions, but it is a very small school with only 2100 students. Obviously, Caltech fosters a lot of different technology areas such as Biology, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Planetary Sciences, Humanities, Physics, and Astronomy.
You might be wondering what type of criteria I'm using in order to rate these colleges. Most of these schools finish tops in almost all of the major criteria that you can think of. These schools typically recieve perfect scores from employers, faculty, and academic peers. There has been quite a bit of research done into what is considered the best schools, and what really is. I tried to take most of that into consideration when coming up with my list. I would rate the next 5 best universities in the world as Imperial College London, University College London, University of Chicago, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Columbia university. All of these schools are also located in both the United States, and the United Kingdom. In fact, the only universities that would make a top 20 list of mine that were located outside of these regions would be the Australian National University, and University of Tokyo. That's about it.
