Book Summary Websites

Finding book summaries online can be difficult, especially when you are looking for summaries for use in school projects.  Most of the websites tend to post highly opinionated summaries which function more as a review.  While they are entertaining, it does cut down on the academic level of most of the content you'll discover online.  It should be said that using a book summary website is never a substitute for actually reading the book, and they should only be used as additional material for what you have already read.

Literature Summary

Literature Summary is a great resource for student who are looking for a little extra help on those difficult reading assignments.  If you are having trouble with a book, reading the summaries and synopsis here can help you to get a better grasp for the themes and plot, which can often become convoluted during a lengthy reading session.  This site is also helpful as a refresher for books you just need a quick refresher course.  Literature Summary hosts pages on over 3,600 books, but most of them stick with classic literature and books you will read at the high school or early college level.

Anti Study

Anti Study is a great book summary website for students, since it will provide you with multiple sources of information on many many books.  It will provide you with the link to the literature summaries from Cliffs Notes, Sparks Notes, Barron's Book Notes, and many other online resources for finding information on literature.  Most books can be located using their easy to use search option, which will conveniently provide link to several other sites all over the Internet.

Free Book Notes

While it doesn't have quite the same impact as many of the other sites listed, it does provide you with links to thousand of books, providing other sites that give you summary information, plot synopsis information and chapter by chapter summaries.  This site, like many others, work more like a search engine, linking you to other sites with the information you are looking for.

Ruthless Reviews

This site is interesting, since it provides more reviews and synopsis information about modern books instead of classic literature.  While this site doesn't give a lot of detailed information, it does just so happen to give you a lot of general information that can be helpful.  All you have to do is be able to read through all of the opinion, and you'll be good to go.
