Cincinnati Forecast

Today, it was in the lower 80s, very muggy, my alergies went nuts and there was barely a cloud to be seen.  While this may sound like an ideal summer day in the Ohio Valley, I was carrying around an umbrella for most of it because there was an 80% chance of thunderstorms and it wasn't supposed to be hotter than 76.  Kind of made my day just a tad more difficult.

Unless you've lived in the area for most of your life, then you tend to rely on the Cincinnati weather forecast to find out what'll be going on outside for the day.  The big problem is that most of the time it's just close, and rarely is it totally accurate.  Apparently forecasting the weather is kind of like lobbing a hand grenade, just get it close and you've done your job.

With several media outlets in the city, you can see the variety of Cincinnati forecasts you get on any given day.  Granted, the meteorological methods of many weather people is about as close as it can get, sometimes they're just a little too off.  The weather is forecast with a combination of scientific data from various weather instruments and a lot of guess work.  After looking at the current conditions and the conditions in the areas our weather is coming from, you can make a fairly well educated guess as to what the weather tomorrow is going to be based on what it has done before with similar conditions.  It is just that, though, a very well educated guess.  If they see a cold front coming through on a hot day, they think rain and chillier weather.  If there's a warm front pushing into the area, then temperatures will rise a bit and you can expect humidity with a chance of severe weather spurned by the heat.

All of this probably sounds familiar, since you've heard if before on a Cincinnati forecast.  Just I've never studied meteorology. 

In general, the seasons are like this in Cincinnati,

• Spring- moderate temperatures, typically 50-70 degrees fahrenheit, low humidity, lots of rain with several severe weather outbreaks.
• Summer- hot and muggy, with a standard temperature the the 80s and 90s.  Some strong storms throughout the afternoon hours with a little relief from the heat at night.
• Fall- brisk temperatures that are similar to Spring, with the occasional weather system producing some rain and eventually sleet. 
• Winter- roll the dice, it's either cold and snowy, cold and icy, or just cold.  It varies greatly from year to year.

The Channel 9 weather team at WCPO do their best to get the Cincinnati forecast right, and most of the times they're pretty close.  WCPO runs a weather spot quite a few times during their regular news broadcast, which tend to run at the normal times, 4:00 a.m.. noon, 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.  The weather team includes

Channel 5's main saving grace with the Cincinnati forecast is Derek, and that's just because I never could forget that lovely catch phrase "Derek said it would."  They tend to be a little more accurate than many of the other Cincinnati news stations, but still run spots through most of their regularly scheduled news programs.  Their weather team is comprised of
