Puppy Training Techniques
When it comes to training your new puppy, you know you have to have a lot of patience. Just as much as you are are trying to get used to having a new little guy around, your puppy is trying to get used to his new home.
Teach him a new language
When you want to teach him certain commands, you have to be consistent. He'll learn English better if you do this every time. For example, if you say, 'Come here,' one time, but 'Get over here,' the next, and, 'Hey you,' he's not going to learn that you want him to come to you. The same thing with going outside. You cannot say, 'Wanna go potty?' and 'Outside?' and 'Peepee?' You'll confuse the poor guy. Use the same words every time and he'll learn to associate the action with that phrase. If you have everyone in the house do this consistently, he'll learn much faster. This can work with doing tricks too.

Potty training
You should learn to read your dog's behavior. Puppies will pee a lot, and they don't understand when you punish them. You should never hit your puppy or push his nose in his poo. He will not make the connection, especially if it has been more than five minutes since he went. All he knows is that you are angry with him. The solution is you need to let them outside as often as possible. When they do their business outside, you need to praise them for doing such a good thing. Pet them and give them verbal praise. Even give them a treat so they know what they did was a good thing. They will make this connection and they will continue to go outside. They'll get in the habit of using the bathroom outside, but they may still have some puddles inside. Their bladders are still little as they are still puppies and they do not have as much control over it as adult dogs, so don't be surprised if they do have a few more mistakes in the house.
You can also use crate training to potty train your puppy. Some people may think it is cruel to crate train your puppy, but infact it is not. Do not introduce your puppy to the crate by putting him in it. Place a treat inside it and let him go inside when he wants to. When he does, praise him. Also, when your puppy is bad, don't put him in the crate as a punishment. when you try to put him in later, he will not want to go inside and he will see that as a punishment as well.
Once you have gotten your dog comfortable with the idea of the crate, you can start crate training. Dogs will not go where they sleep and if you do need to leave the house and cannot take your little guy with you, you can put him in a crate. Make sure the crate is large enough for him to move around in and to grow into as well. Don't leave him all day in the crate because as we mentioned, puppies have small bladders and you'll probably come home to a mess.
Doggie school
If this is your first time having a dog, or you need some extra help training your puppy, you may want to consider going to some dog training classes. These can teach you not only to train your dog, but how to be an owner and properly train your dog. It can teach your puppy to socialize kindly with other puppies. These courses are usually about four weeks long and will meet in groups of owners and their puppies. They will teach you how to command your puppy to sit, lay down, stay, and come, walk on a leash without pulling ahead, and play with other puppies and people. These courses can teach you how to introduce puppies to strangers visiting the house. They teach you about properly feeding your puppies and handling and grooming them.
