If you feel like you are not getting enough sleep at night, like you are tossing and turning, or you feel like you haven't slept at all, it may be time to purchase a new mattress for your bedroom. It is the most commonly purchased typed of mattress and the most inexpensive type as well. It has metal coils, or springs, inside and is paired with a box spring mattress that goes underneath it. It is the most basic style, but it can be comfortable if you get the right type. It just depends on your personal preference as to what you should purchase. If you grew up sleeping on metal spring mattresses and you hated them, keep in mind that technology has come a long way. They are not as squeaky as they once were and they are much more supportive of your back overnight while you are sleeping. At Ikea, the spring mattress can be purchased for $80 and the box springs for $100. Prices can go up from here depending on their quality and manufacturers. You also need to have purchased a bed frame for these to be placed in. 

Adjustable

Adjustable beds are meant to help with your comfort and posture while sleeping. Modeled after adjustable hospital beds, these single bed mattresses are controlled with a remote. They lift up at the waist to allow you to look around, watch TV, read, or sleep more comfortably. The bottom of the bed also raises, allowing your legs to be elevated. They can also be included with heat and massage for ultimate comfort when sleeping. We mostly think of the elderly when we think of an adjustable bed, but they can be perfect for anyone of any age. You don't have to fall into a certain category in order to purchase an adjustable bed. It can be a very convenience investment and they last a very long time, too. You can purchase an adjustable single bed mattress for about $1,200. You do not have to purchase anything else, such as the box springs or bed frame.

Memory Foam

We remember the infomercials for the memory foam mattresses. The material, we were told, was developed by NASA. Whether or not this was the gimick that got us, or we actually tried the bed out, we soon found out that there is something to this material. Memory foam single bed mattresses allow the user to sleep comfortably by forming to their body. This unique material forms around your body and cradles you as you sleep. You can see from the picture to the right the way the foam molds to your body like it did to this woman's hand. It promotes proper posture while you sleep and alleviates pressure points. It keeps you from waking up while your partner moves in their sleep and is supposed to keep you from tossing and turning in your sleep, giving you a better-rested night's sleep. They are meant to not transmit motion from one side of the bed to the other. You can purchase a single bed mattress for about $16.

Sleep Number

Sleep Number beds are mattresses that are filled with air. When you think of air mattresses, you think of those uncomfortable things you take with you on camping trips. This is hardly that type of air mattress. You choose how hard or soft you want your bed to be by choosing your sleep number. It adjust the amount of air in the mattress. You do this by using a remote much like the adjustable mattresses. You select your number and the mattress will adjust depending on your selection. The mattress will have a soft plush pillow top for your comfort. Some mattresses will allow you to choose different sleep numbers for both sides of the bed. They appear just like any other normal single bed mattress and fit any bed frame.
