Toys for 1 year olds

A Lot of things are happening to children around 1 year old.  They are getting ready to start walking, they are getting ready to say their first words.  Normally around 12 months of age toddlers are starting to pull themselves up onto things, and they normally can walk as long as they are holding onto something.  They are also getting ready to say their first words, normally basic words like mamma, and dadda, or things that they here often.  Then after 18 months is when they start learning a lot of new words.  They can also start using motions for actions, like holding their hands up to be picked up and things like that.

There are many things that you can buy toddlers depending if you want them to learn specific things from them.  Things that teach them letters or words are good around this age.  Things they can push while they are learning to walk are also good. 

Things that help with motor skills are also a good idea, hand-eye coordination is very important for toddlers also.  Blocks with different shapes and colors are idea for this.  The things that have different shapes you fit into holes are good ideas.  Knob puzzles are also a good idea, they are just like regular puzzles but have little knobs on them so they can handle them.  Characterization toys are good as well, dinosaurs, baby dolls, cars and trucks, and other toys of that nature, just make sure that the toys are large enough that they can't put the entire thing in their mouth and choke on it.

Outside toys are good too, push around lawn mowers that shoot out the bubbles always come to mind when thinking about good toddler toys.  Sandboxes are good if they are out of the everything going in there mouth phase is over.  Small riding toys are also a good idea, to help them with balance and hand-eye coordination.  Little baby pools are a good idea too as long as there is adult supervision at all times while the child is outside. 

There are many other toys for 1 year olds too that you can get them, stuffed animals are always a good idea.  Cloth and soft plastic books with letters and matching pictures are always a good idea.  Things with low volume music are good ideas as well for when they are going to sleep.  That helps them un-wind from having a great day playing and learning.
